PR segment

Also calledPR segment · P-R segment · PQ segment

Definition

The normally flat (isoelectric) stretch from the end of the P wave to the onset of the QRS complex, during which the impulse is conducted through the AV node, the His bundle, the bundle branches and the Purkinje fibres. It serves as a baseline reference for measuring ST-segment deviation, and PR-segment depression (with PR-segment elevation in aVR) is a classic sign of acute pericarditis.
