Right ventricular hypertrophy (RVH)
Also calledRVH · right ventricular hypertrophy · RV hypertrophy
Definition
An electrocardiographic pattern of increased right ventricular mass characterized by right axis deviation and prominent anterior forces: a dominant R wave in V1 (R/S ratio of 1 or more, or a tall R wave, 6 mm in one criterion set), a deep S wave in V5 or V6, and often ST depression with T-wave inversion in the right precordial leads V1 to V3 (a secondary ST-T abnormality; the older label 'right ventricular strain' is discouraged). Supportive findings include right atrial enlargement (P pulmonale) and an rSR' or qR morphology in V1.
