How student seats work: when one is used, who needs one, and what happens when it runs out.
A seat gives one student Pro access to EKGLab for 12 months. Your Instructor license came with 10 seats, and you can buy more whenever you need them.
When a student who does not already have Pro joins your class with the join code, or when you add them by email. The seat counter at the top of this page goes down by one, and the student gets Pro straight away.
For 12 months from the day the student received it. It does not end when your class ends, so a student keeps Pro between terms.
Nobody is removed, and students keep Pro for the rest of their 12 months. From the end date, no new students can join. The class moves to Past classes in the class menu, where its grades, student details and CSV export stay available and you can still remove students. To run it again, open it and set a new end date.
No. One seat covers that student in all of your classes for its 12 months.
No. Once a seat is given to a student, it belongs to that student.
Then no seat is used. It does not matter whether they pay for their own Pro plan or already have a seat from another instructor. A student never takes up two seats at the same time.
Whoever the student joins first. When that student joins the second instructor's class they already have Pro, so no second seat is used. Their 12 months still count from the first seat. Joining another class does not extend it.
The student goes back to the free plan, even if they are still in your class. To put them back on Pro, give them one of your seats (see "How do I give a seat to a student who is already in my class?").
Open Add students or Manage. Next to each student you will see one of three labels. "Your seat", with the date it ends, means one of your seats is giving them Pro. "Has Pro" means they have Pro without using one of your seats. "No Pro" means they are on the free plan right now.
Open Add students or Manage, find the student marked "No Pro", and select Give a seat. One seat is used and they get 12 months of Pro. The student can also enter your join code again, which does the same thing.
They leave this class. If they are not in any other of your classes that is still running, the Pro access your seat gave them ends, and they return to the free plan unless they have Pro from somewhere else. Plan on a used seat staying used. Adding the same student back while their 12 months are still running does not cost you an extra seat.
Nothing is deleted. Their quiz attempts, grades and flashcard progress are saved, and you can still see their past results in your gradebook. While they are on the free plan they cannot take quizzes, so nothing new is recorded. Everything is there when they are back on Pro.
A new student who needs a seat cannot join until you have one. They see a message that the class has no seats left. Students already in your class are not affected, and students who already have Pro can still join.
Select Buy seats next to the seat counter at the top of this page, choose how many you need and pay once. They are added to your pool within a few seconds. If you co-teach a class, its owner buys the seats.
No. Unused seats stay in your pool for as long as your Instructor license is active.
No. The 10 included seats come once, when you first start your license. After that, buy seats as you need them.
Students who already have a seat keep Pro for the rest of their 12 months. You cannot open Classroom, and new students cannot join, until you renew. Your classes are kept.
The full seat terms are in the .
This class has ended, so no one new can join. You can still remove students below, or reopen the class with a new end date.
